Krishi Vigyan Kendras are the district level farm science centres for speedy transfer of technology to farmers. Krishi Vigyan Kendra helps to promote the productivity and income of the farmers from agriculture and allied sectors in a sustainable manner by reducing the time lag between the generation of technology to the farmer field.
Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Samba was sanctioned by Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR),New Delhi in the month of September,2016 Vide No-F.No.5-9/2011.AE-II dated 2nd September, 2016.KVK Samba started its functioning in August 2017. It is a center place from highway and is around 500 metres from the highway. Samba is the second district of Jammu division after Gateway of J&K, Kathua district. Krishi Vigyan Kendra Samba has approximately around 400 kanal of land at Mananu Farm as well as at Arazi Farm Samba on which various kharif and rabi season crops are grown for seed production as well as for demonstration purposes.
Krishi vigyan Kendra Samba imparts short as well as long duration farmers and vocational trainings to farmers, farm women ,rural youth and field functionaries to enhance their knowledge about new technologies.The Frontline Demonstrations and On-Farm Trials are also conducted on farmer fields so that new technologies can be easily adopted by the farmers.
The mandate of KVK is Technology Assessment and Demonstration for its Application and Capacity Development.
